Ford Wheeler’s House

I can’t get enough of this place. It’s a home-museum-library dream world!

WHAT?!

When I first moved to NYC in the early 90′s, I spent so much of my time just wandering the streets soaking in everything the city had to offer. One of my favorite stores that not only served as an inspiration for New York Adorned but really made me want to get out and see the world, was Craft Caravan, on Greene St in Soho. This guy had such an amazing eye and there was just so much to see. He never minded that some young chick spent hours in there touching everything and never buying. I was so bummed when it closed. Now Ford has gone on to do Production Design in film and television. Check out The Selby for more pics of his amazing loft in Hells Kitchen and get to know him through this article in Paper Magazine written by Kim Hastreiter. This guy is real deal

§ One Response to Ford Wheeler’s House

  • Ron says:

    I miss Craft Caravan…
Had been a customer for many years when I had my shop Mbira Percussion around the corner on Thompson st. this was in the early 80s
Ford always had interesting things to say, conversations about anything and everything and a pretty funny sarcastic sort at that….
Miss these guys (Ignacio as well)
